Happy New Year!
While we’ve finally put 2020 behind us, the very first week of 2021 seems to be giving last year a run for its money. Like many of you, I celebrated the wins of Senators-elect Warnock and Ossoff yesterday morning, only to be glued to my television in horror later in the day as rioters stormed the U.S. Capitol building in an unprecedented attack on democracy.
This year will be a challenging one, but I look forward to returning to the Capitol, where I will continue to fight to expand healthcare in the midst of a pandemic, provide economic relief to small businesses, and ensure that COVID vaccinations are readily available. In addition, I hope that my colleagues and I can work together to bring unity and progress to the people of Georgia.
The Georgia General Assembly will convene on Monday, January 11th, beginning with the swearing in of all members of the legislature. I’m hosting a Legislative Kick Off Listening Session to share legislative priorities and concerns. I also hope to hear your thoughts and answer questions. Join us on Sunday, January 10 at 4:00 p.m! You can pre-register on Zoom here:

With increased security and additional COVID-19 prevention measures, life at the Capitol will look very different this year. Members will be spaced across three different areas. There will be no rope lines, and the page program will be suspended. Guests will be limited in our shared office spaces, and very few guests will be allowed on the House floor.
One of my favorite elements of public service is meeting with constituents and advocates, and I want to make sure that connection remains unbroken. I’ll be hosting weekly update meetings on Sunday afternoons on Zoom – I’ll keep you posted with links in this newsletter and via social media. I’m also happy to take individual meetings via phone or Zoom – respond to this email to schedule a time.
You can watch the 2021 Legislative Session live-streamed here:
Committee meetings are also live-streamed.
Archived House Floor videos and Committee Room videos are available here.
COVID-19 cases have reached an all-time high in Georgia, and hospitals in our district are near or at capacity. Please continue to stay safe by staying home, wearing a mask when you must be out in public, and washing your hands frequently. The COVID-19 vaccine becomes available for those over the age of 65 on January 11; information about the vaccination program in Fulton County can be found at https://fultoncountyboh.org/boh/index.php/578-covid-19-vaccine. Free COVID-19 testing continues to be available; times and locations can be found at https://www.coreresponse.org/covid-19/atlanta-ga.
