Week 9
With all of the activity of Cross Over Day behind us, we enjoyed a quieter week this week as we worked through legislative days 29 - 31. With three weeks left in the session, Senate bills are quickly making their way through House committees and to the floor for a vote. While we only voted on a handful of bills this week, we certainly voted on the most important one of all - the FY2026 Budget. Read below for more details.

2026 "Big" Budget

On Tuesday, the House passed the Fiscal Year 2026 Budget. The budget will now go to the Senate where it will definitely experience some changes. This may not be a final version, yet, but here are some highlights from HB68.

 - $50,000 increase funds for feminine hygiene products for low-income clients at community originations 

Increased from Governor's recommendation

- $700,000 to support quality improvement at birthing facilities

Increased from Governor's recommendation

 - $600,000 in funds for autism centers

Increased from Governor's recommendation

- $9.5 million in funds for North Fulton behavior health crisis center 

Increased from Governor's recommendation 

- $5 million in funds for labor and delivery services in rural Georgia 

Increased from Governor's recommendation

- $3 million to increase internet speed in classrooms 

Unchanged from Governor's recommendation

- $14 million to reduce classroom size in pre-K

Increased from Governor's recommendation
