Unbelievable! Just one day after the voter registration deadline in Georgia, we learned that 53,000 Georgians’ voter registrations are being held up by Brian Kemp’s suppressive “exact match” policy – a policy that means an error like a missing hyphen or middle initial is enough to keep an application from being processed. The worst part of this story? We now know that people of color were far likelier to have their applications held up.
We must elect new leadership in Georgia that will combat this sort of legislation; this bill was supported by every Republican in the state house, including my opponent. The number one best way for Georgians to combat voter suppression efforts is to exercise their right to vote.
