If you missed the North Atlanta Town Hall on Redistricting, you can now watch it on Youtube! My thanks to fellow legislators Sen. Jen JordanSen. Sonya HalpernSen. Nan OrrockRep. Shea RobertsRep. Stacey EvansRep. Erick Allen, & Rep. Becky Evans for a really interesting discussion on the upcoming special session on redistricting. And thanks to those who attended, either in person or virtually, and for the great questions that you asked!

Speaking of redistricting…the special session on redistricting begins on Wednesday, and I will once again be under the Gold Dome, starting November 3rd.

Every ten years, we convene in a special session to redraw the political maps for Georgia’s 14 Congressional seats, 180 State House districts, and 56 State Senate districts. These maps are largely controlled by the party in power, and will determine Congressional and state legislative lines for the next ten years.

This process is happening later than expected, because of delays with the census data due to COVID-19, but we expect to be finished before Thanksgiving.

It’s not too late to be involved! You can submit written testimony to the House and Senate Redistricting Committees here.

You can view 2020 census data here.

Fair Districts GA is a great resource on redistricting in Georgia, and how to create fair legislative maps.

As your representative, I will continue to advocate for fair representation of all the residents of Georgia. Voters should pick their representatives – not the other way around. I’ll provide updates as they arise!

Everywhere I go, I’m asked about Buckhead City. I do not think that seceding from the city of Atlanta and incorporating as a new one will solve our crime problem. I’ve written more about my concerns here

The Senate State & Local Government Operations Committee will be holding a hearing on Buckhead City on Thursday, November 4th, 2021 at 2 pm in CLOB 307. It will be livestreamed here. I encourage you to attend or watch, and make your voice heard.

We have two listening sessions scheduled during the Special Session on Redistricting!
